Before I started my social media and content business, I always wondered what that process would look like and what steps you needed to take. So I thought I would share bits and bobs of the process I have gone through, and still am, to get to where I am with my brand today and call it ‘Launch my Northern Business with Me’.
I thought I would kick off this mini-series (if it can be classed as a series?) by talking all about the name, as I’ve had many a question about it.
As a little back story, I’m from the North of England, born and bred in Doncaster, and I’m very proud of that. But growing up and especially during uni, I felt this unspoken pressure to move to London or one of the big cities to ‘make it’.
Once I had graduated, I started to notice that I liked it where I came from and I wasn’t ready to buy into the idea of leaving. As well as this, during my Master’s, I also explored how being a Northern could affect creativity and if it did & that changed everything for me.
I realised that I didn’t want to leave to find opportunities. I wanted to create my own here.
That desire is exactly where Be Reyt Social came from. It’s a nod to everything I think is great about the North and the happy go lucky vibe some of us are known for. If you didn’t know, a common reply to most things is ‘it’ll be reyt’, meaning you will be ok or it will be alright and things will work out. When I knew the WHY of my business, I knew I had to use that phrase somehow in my business.
It also links perfectly to my goal, which is to help other Northern creative and businesses show up online, grow with confidence and unleash their full potential, right here in Doncaster without needing to fit into anyone else’s mould or expectations.
So, if you’re building a business and want to see more - this series is for you. Alternatively, if there’s anything else you want to see me talk about pleeeeease let me know! Let’s do this together and remember, it’ll always be reyt.
