The Run for Wildlife Autumn 5K returned to Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Sunday 5th October 2025, attracting over 1,300 runners from across the region. The event supports conservation efforts for the Visayan Warty Pig, an endangered species native to the Philippines.
Thankfully, Storm Amy had passed just in time for race day, leaving cool, clear conditions—though some joked that a few lingering gusts might have helped push runners around the course!
Premier Partnership’s very own Joanne Goddard proudly took part in the event, cheered on by her daughter, Emily. The race began from the car park at around 9:00 a.m., with runners heading into the park before it opened to the public.
“It wasn’t open to visitors yet, so it was just the staff there to cheer us on. My daughter Emily came along and cheered me off from the line,” Joanne said.
Along the scenic route, runners were treated to views of the park’s incredible residents—lions, rhinos, tigers, polar bears, and monkeys. “I swear the tiger was smiling as we ran by!” Joanne added.
She completed the 5K in a perfectly timed 44 minutes and 44 seconds—uncannily matching her race number: 444!
While Emily’s camera skills didn’t quite capture the finish (“she couldn’t unlock her phone in time, and my photo had my eyes closed!”), Joanne celebrated the achievement with a bottle of water, a cupcake, and of course, a medal.
When asked if she’d do it again, Joanne said: “I’m not sure – maybe. It wasn’t as bad as I thought! Plus, I got a cool medal at the end and helped charity.”
All of us here at Premier Partnership are so proud of your achievement! – You have shown such commitment into getting from the couch to 5K and now have the medal to commemorate the event. – However, one thing we have to point out is that cupcake doesn’t look as good as the ones you bring us for our cake table in the office!
Well done Joanne!
