Edlington Victoria Academy welcomed John Healey MP this week as he joined pupils and staff for a special assembly celebrating creativity, community, and the school’s ongoing improvement work.
During the visit, pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 eagerly awaited the results of Mr Healey’s annual Christmas Card Competition, for which they had submitted their festive designs earlier in the term. The assembly saw nine talented runners-up proudly receive a printed copy of the final card and a small gift in recognition of their efforts.
The winning design was created by Evelynn Goode from Class Y1/2H, whose artwork will feature on Mr Healey’s official Christmas card which would be shared not only with all his constituents, but even with His Majesty the King.
Mr Healey congratulated the children on their creativity and praised the school for fostering such strong engagement in the arts.
Emily Clark, Executive Principal said “It was a pleasure to welcome John Healey MP into our academy and to share both the achievements of our pupils and the significant developments underway across Edlington. Our children were excited and inspired to learn that their artwork could reach thousands of people including the King. It was fantastic to celebrate these successes with our local MP.”
